Switch to online lessons

Due to the worsening covid-19 situation in Singapore, the authorities have suspended all centre-based tuition classes. Number Skill Learning Centre is ready to take all our classes online. We have invested a lot of resources in the past few years to develop our online capabilities such as lesson recording, live streaming of classes and live-online lessons.

Rest assured that we will make our online lessons as effective as our in-person lessons. Quality and content will not be compromised and learning will proceed despite the disruption.

We will be using zoom classroom to conduct our online classes. It will be a live session and each session will be recorded so that students can revisit the lesson any time they need to.

Step 1

Install zoom on your laptop or tablet.

Click here to install zoom. Zoom is available on PC, Mac, iOS and Andriod.

You can also use Chrome to access the classroom. You will be prompted to install the zoom add-on.

Step 2

Your tutor will send you the URL to your scheduled class via WhatsApp or email.

Click on the link provided and you will be directed to your virtual classroom.

Step 3

Once you are admitted into the classroom, click on "Join with computer audio". You should also check the box at the lower left corner to "Automatically join audio by computer when joining a meeting".

Once in the classroom, please make sure that the camera is turned on. It is important to turn on the camera so that we can see that the student is paying attention.

Students with privacy concerns can choose to use a virtual background so that their background will not be shown.

FAQs

Will there is any change to the schedule?

For now, we do not wish to disrupt the lives of our students further and therefore, all classes will be conducted according to the regular schedule.

However, we are aware that some students may take longer to reach home from school and therefore may not be ready at the scheduled time. We will gather feedback from students and adjust along the way.

What hardware do I need to participate in the virtual classroom?

A modern laptop with a built-in camera and microphone will be sufficient. If you are using a desktop with no built-in camera or microphone, then you will need to get an external camera and microphone. Alternatively, using a tablet such as an iPad is also feasible. The last option is simply just a smartphone.

How can the tutor monitor the student's work?

We will ask students to send us pictures of their work via WhatsApp at appropriate intervals during the session. At this moment, WhatsApp is the easiest option. We're currently exploring better alternatives. We will update the students and parents after our internal testing.
